Kathryn Curtis, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Katy Curtis is a clinical psychologist working at the Comprehensive Integrated Pain Program in Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network (UHN), in Toronto, Canada. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from York University where she was supervised by Dr. Joel Katz for her graduate level research. During her graduate studies, she began studying with Gitte at Vidya Institute in 2010 and has been a devoted student ever since.

The combination of her academic and spiritual studies fueled her interest in yoga research and subsequent research endeavors focused on evaluating specialized yoga and mindfulness programs for individuals with chronic pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia, spinal cord injury, and complex multi-morbidity. At present, she is in the process of completing a post-doctoral fellowship through the Transitional Pain Service and the Pain Research Unit at Toronto General Hospital, where she is evaluated a specialized yoga program for postsurgical pain. Here at Vidya Institute International, Katy manages collaborations on the yoga research projects, crafts beautiful illustrations to complement our educational materials, assists with the articulation of challenging esoteric ideas in the teachings, contributes to the coordination of programming, and helps undertake many other Seva oriented tasks.
